Todays drama on TV mostly consist of "reality TV", sure I watch some of those shows - I won't lie. But I do it mainly because there are no great, fresh, juicy, TV series with actual actors following a classic script. I miss that! The only way to get that "OMG-feeling" caused by breath-taking cliff-hangers and immortal characters is to simply relive the classics. So here are my all time TOP 5 favourite TV drama series.
Dallas (1978 - 1991)
For me this is my all time favourite TV series! I really could just have chosen this because it is spot on when it comes to scheming, classic cliff hangers, ups, downs, twists, turns and surprises from all over the place. What makes this show so great is the insanely wonderful characters. There is and will only ever be one a true villain and that is J.R Ewing - played to perfection by Larry Hagman. Of course the other Ewing characters are also timeless. Even the intro music is great!
"I recently watched 11 seasons (there are 13) of this classic, that is Dallas, and it is still a 1000 times better than any other drama series I have ever seen in my life!"
Gotta love the eighties! Not that I'm that much into fashion but in this show there is no doubt in what decade the show take place.
When I first saw it it was reruns, but the intro-music always makes me think of food. Cause it aired in the afternoon and I always got home from school in time to make something to eat and watch it.
"Some of the best catfights ever take place in this show, between Krystle and Alexis of course, haha. Love those ladies! Miau!"
Another great drama series, a bit different because of the "sisters" part, but I do like me some family drama, hehe.
Of course one of todays more famous hunks are in here, George Clooney. He still looks pretty much the same...amazing. One of my favourite storylines in this show is the romance between him and Teddy. So sad when he dies :-(
"One thing I do not get, is why you can't see or buy this show anywhere today? I know I'm not the only one who saw it back then, or who want to see it now...hm?"
Beverly Hills 90210(1990 - 2000)
When I see the show now I can't believe I actually thought the actors were believable as teenagers at the time, haha. I mean considering they were all in their twenties in real life back then.
However I still think this is an excellent high school drama with a lot of identifiable twist and turns.
Even though, at the end of the series pretty much every character has had an alcohol or drug problem...
I remember how shocked I got when Dylan hooked up with Kelly over the summer, behind Brendas back! How cold he, how could they! And when Andrea got pregnant, what a shocker! "The plots still work and the fact that Jason Priestley and, an older, Brian Austin Green are timeless hunks makes it even more fun to revisit Beverly Hills 90210 (original)."
Melrose Place (1992-1999)
I just adore these characters, Amanda, forever cheating Michael, psycho Kimeberly and gay Matt, to name a few. This is one of very few spin-offs that managed excellent on its own.
I have seen the episodes over and over so many times and they are still as good as they were the first time!
Regarding the recent attempt to revive this show, I can only say: "They don't make 'em like they used to."
