Christmas Spending, Time Or Money?
Me taking a breath today while doing my last Christmas shopping.

My favorite part of Christmas is the food and spending time with my family. But of course Christmas also represents giving, and receiving, gifts. In other words, Christmas is all about spending time and money with and on each other.

Now imagine if we spent as much time with each other as we spend money on each other every Christmas season - wow!

In Sweden:

- Last Christmas season we spent more than 70 billion SEK (7.59 billion USD) on Christmas shopping. This year Swedes are estimated to spend about 77 billion SEK (8.3 billion USD).

- Swedes spend on average 7 000 SEK (760 USD) per person on gifts and food during the Christmas season.

- We spend about 100 - 500 SEK (10 - 55 USD) on a Christmas gift to each other.

- We spend about 500 SEK (55 USD) on a Christmas gift to ourselves.

In the USA:

Of course things are always fun to give and receive, but I think that the most valuable gift you can ever give someone you care about is your time and affection. Both free, but priceless, gifts.

Happy Holidays Everyone! :-)
