Swedish Gratitude Giveaway
Open Worldwide
September 20, 2011 8:09 PM

It is that time again! Swedish Giveaway time! Although this one is a rather spontaneous Giveaway I must say. Because recently when I was at the local store here in Lyckeby in Sweden I just happen to stumble across this beautiful Carl Larsson calendar for 2012.

Swedish Giveaway Carl Larsson Calander
And I thought it would be a prefect Giveaway prize! Which is why I am now having this Giveaway! :p

But who is Carl Larsson you might wonder? Well, Carl Larsson is a well known Swedish artist who was born in 1853 in Old Town in Stockholm. He is famous for his paintings of Swedish family life in the late 1800s. More specifically, paintings of his family life at his home in Lilla Hyttnäs in Sweden. So of course the photos of his paintings in this calendar are of Sweden, family and life in the 1800s. And what really makes this such a great prize is that the calendar is in Swedish/English/German!

Even though this Swedish Giveaway is a bit more simple than the ones I have had before. I will still announce the winner in a live Giveaway Drawing via my Ustream Channel. The drawing will be held on September 28, I will be back with the exact time later.

Now on to HOW you can win this calendar. I call this Giveaway a Swedish Gratitude Giveaway because I truly believe it is important to feel gratitude as often as possible in life. I say "feel" because I think gratitude comes from the heart and not from the mind. So the task is to simply answer the following question in the comment section. (One comment per person.)

What are you grateful for?

My answer: The simple things is life really, like the fact that I am alive. But also that I have a wonderful dog by my side. Not only because she is cute, hehe, but because if I did not have her I would probably not be out in nature as much. Something I always find very refreshing and energizing.

I am also deeply grateful to everyone who ever visit/follow/like this blog. And for all comments, email and feedback I receive. I have said this many times before but I do truly mean it and feel very grateful for every second anyone spends here. So Thank You for reading this!

By the way, the answer by the person who wins this Giveaway will be published in my Winner Announcement post. A link to the blog/website of the winner will also be included, if he/she has one.

Good Luck Everyone! :-)

/A.L

My Swedish Midsummer Giveaway
Open Worldwide
June 12, 2011 4:41 PM

Giveaway time!!! Because it's Midsummer in Sweden in two weeks (June 24th) I felt a Midsummer theme would be appropriate for this Giveaway. I mean, to me there is nothing more Swedish than Midsummer! This means that the prizes consist of a few typical Midsummer items and some Swedish treats. The winner will be picked in a live broadcast drawing via my Ustream channel on Monday June 20th, I will be back with the exact time later.

Before I get into the details of this giveaway I want to share a bit about our Midsummer tradition. So Midsummer is a Swedish tradition we celebrate by dressing up a Midsummer pole with flowers and then dancing around it. A traditional Midsummer headwear on this day is a Midsummer flower crown. Some traditional food we eat on this day are pickled herring, boiled new potatoes and sour cream with fresh chives. To drink - snaps (shots) preferably P.O Andersson. Dessert always consist of strawberry cake.

Left pic: We are dancing around a Midsummer pole in the eighties sometime. Right pic: Me wearing a traditional Midsummer flower crown (a long time ago, lol).

For more info
about Midsummer Eve check out my Swedish Traditions page.

The prizes

- A wooden Midsummer pole
- A Midsummer plastic flower crown
- A can of a typical Swedish pickled herring
- Napkins with Swedish flag motive
- 12 small plastic plates with Swedish motives
- Two wooden butter knives
- A car air freshener with Swedish motive
- Swedish crispbread
- Some popular Swedish candy; three different kinds of salt liquorice candy.
- A postcard with motives from my hometown Karlskrona

Giveaway rules!

One entry per person.

To enter simply answer this question in a comment below:

Question -->What is your favourite tradition/celebration and why?

My answer:

My favourite tradition is actually Midsummer Eve. It's such a fun, simple and family friendly tradition. With family and friends we eat good simple food, dance, play games and enjoy a snaps (shot) or two. A wonderful outdoor tradition indeed!

This Giveaway is Open Worldwide. The package will be sent with a tracking code on it and I will pay for all delivery costs. I will send one package once. And because the delivery process is out of my control I cannot guarantee its safe arrival. Before I announce the winner I want to send out a huge THANK YOU to everyone who participated in my Swedish Giveaway! The total number of entries ended up at 32, which I think is awesome! :-) But earlier this evening it was finally time to pick a winner.

Like last time, I picked the winner in a live broadcast via my Ustream channel. And I have to say, even though everything might not be perfect in them, I really love making these live broadcasts. Hehe. The fact that had 3 viewers watching live in the end, made it even more fun - thank you! :-)

Below is a video of my Swedish Giveaway Drawing, recorded live about an hour ago. The winner is..

...ta da - Sugarmouse! Congratulations! My Giveaway questions were:

1. What country do you live in?

2. What do you love about the country you live in?

Sugarmouses answers:

"Answer 1: Malaysia

Answer 2: The fact that there is always a food stall open and operating at any time of the day! "

You can find Sugarmouses blog at melosophy.com

Once again, thank you!

Time for a Swedish giveaway! (CLOSED)
January 10, 2011 0:34 AM

I thought it was about time I had another Swedish giveaway! Yay! Like last time, the prizes will consist of some Swedish treats and a personal gift from me. I will pick the winner in a live broadcast via my Ustream channel on Wednesday January 19th, I will be back with the exact time later.

These are the prizes:

- Napkins with Swedish flag motive
- Four wooden butter knives
- A car air freshner with Swedish motive
- Swedish crispbread
- Some popular Swedish candy; three different kinds of salt liquorice candy, Ahlgrens bilar   and Peppermint Rock Candy - polkagris
- Our traditional Christmas drink, Glögg
- A postcard with motives from my hometown Karlskrona
- And my personal gift, spring water from Lyckeby

As for my personal gift. I wanted to give away something which has some sort of connection to this giveaway, as well as to me and where I live. And I was so excited when I got the idea to give away some water. Huh!? Well, just a few metres from where I live here in Lyckeby, is an old water pump. It has actually been here for centuries. And people still come to fetch water from it today, even though we can drink water directly from our taps. But this spring water is tasty and has a long history behind it, which I'm sure is why it is still frequently used. It is also why I thought it would be cool to give away some of this spring water from Lyckeby, Sweden.

Below are pics of the pump, as well as some history about it.

Top left pic: this is how close it is to my apartment. Top right pic: Some close ups. And below pic: an enlargement of the text which is written on the info board next to the pump.

And this is how I made my personal gift. I boiled a bottle in water, made labels, filled bottle with spring water, and voila - finito!

Giveaway rules!

Now to the most important part, HOW TO WIN these prizes! All you have to do is answer these two questions in a comment below.

1. What country do you live in?

2. What do you love about the country you live in?

My answers:

1. Sweden

2. I love that we can drink water straight from our taps here. We are very fortunate to be able to do that, something I definitely appreciate!

I look forward to your answers. :-)

And the winner is...
November 29, 2010 8:01 PM

First of all, a big THANK YOU to all of you who participated in my Swedish giveaway! The total number of comments ended up at 22. And it has been a lot of fun to read them all. I especially love that there are commentators from all over the world!

Moving on to my drawing. I had decided to post a video of it, but then I thought - hey why not do a live broadcast? I found Ustream, created an account and bam, here is a recording of my live broadcast earlier today. I choose to do an old school drawing :-)

And, the winner of my Swedish giveaway is....ta da - Luke! Congratulations! Here is Lukes comment:

"1. I live in Jakarta, capital city of Indonesia
2. Living in a metropolis of over 20 million people in South East Asia, in a city clogged with traffic, people and litter, where there is almost no parks or places for people to sit or go other than a shopping mall, I have found a haven of peace and tranquility and fresh air at the Marina in the old part of the city. The marina is surrounded by the old city and the harbour next to it is full of wooden schooners loaded with everything you can think of and they sail to every part of the country.
The view is into the sea and of boats and in the far distance, the thousand islands another tropical island paradise.
The marina is always quiet and friendly with great food and when I am there, the noise, dust and grime of Jakarta vanishes. It is my private escape"
