Doggy Meets Rabbit And Pig In The Wamo Park
October 19, 2012 6:48 PM

Today I took my dog Lisen for a visit to The Wamo Park, or Wämöparken in Swedish, here in Karlskrona in Sweden. And, to my surprise, Lisen was actually very interested in saying hello to both the rabbit and pig there (she usually does not really care that much about other animals). But of course while Lisen was busy trying to communicate with the rabbit and pig, I just had to take some photos of them all. Hehe. So below are some photos of Doggy Meets Rabbit And Pig In The Wamo Park.

Finally the rabbit looks at her.

And even gets a bit closer.

But then Lisen got a bit too eager and wanted to play (I hope that is what she wanted anyway...).

So then the rabbit got a bit spooked and walked away from her.

But Lisen did not want to leave the rabbit, I had to drag her away.

Bye, bye rabbit.

Hello Miss Piggy.

Who was more interested in drinking water than communicating with Lisen when we came by though.

So then Lisen decided to check out the grass instead, which she had a few bites of.

So really, Lisen ate grass and Miss Piggy hung around the water the entire time we were there. Hehe.

But I do think Lisen had a great time in the park though, despite being snubbed by Miss Piggy. Lol! ;p Here we are on our merry way to the car again.

And we had great weather today too! So that combined with a fun visit to the Wamo Park earlier, well - certainly a perfect way to start the weekend in my book. :p

The Season Of Rainy Walks
October 15, 2012 1:25 PM

Though fall is a beautiful, vibrant and colourful season - it is also a season often visited by wind, clouds and rain. Which is what we have been experiencing lately here in Lyckeby in Sweden. So this morning I captured how my walks with Lisen have looked like these last few days...

Wet... (We live in one of those houses on the hill here in Lyckeby.)

... and rainy. (Lisen looks about how I feel there... Lol!)

Now I sure hope we will get back that beautiful sun we had a visit from in the beginning of last week, because I actually feel like the weather has quite an impact on my energy levels. In fact, I think Lisen is a bit extra slow and sleepy when the weather is like this as well. Though outside she does not seem to mind the rain as much as I do. But I do feel like we both need a little energy boost right about now. So: "Please Sunny Sunshine, come back again!". Let's hope that does the trick. ;-) Hehe. For now however, soon time for one of those rainy fall walks with Lisen again... Aye, aye - phew!

A Gorgeous Walk Around Lake Farskesjon In Sweden
October 11, 2012 8:31 PM

When I woke up this morning it was to an absolutely gorgeous day! Windless, blue skies, a beaming sun and, though it was a bit chilly outside, the air was so beautifully fresh and crisp that the coldness just made it nicer than usual to breathe in. In other words, it was a perfect day for an outing together with my doggy Lisen. But instead of going to our favourite forest in Rodeby (Rödeby), I decided to take Lisen on a walk around a lake called Lake Farskesjon (Färskesjön in Swedish) near Jamjo (Jämjö) here in Karlskrona in Sweden - about 18 kilometers from where we live in Lyckeby. So I packed a bag with my camera, a thermos with coffee, a sandwich, a bag with treats for Lisen and off we went.

A Gorgeous Walk Around Lake Farskesjon In Sweden
Now Lake Farskesjon is a freshwater lake which is partially located in a nature reserve.

A Gorgeous Walk Around Lake Farskesjon In Sweden
Beautiful Lake Farskesjon. This is where we started our 4K walk around the lake.

A Gorgeous Walk Around Lake Farskesjon In Sweden
Of course this was the first thing Lisen did when we arrived. :p

Wahooo!!!

A Gorgeous Walk Around Lake Farskesjon In Sweden
After a few minutes of intense joy over being in the lake, she spotted the hundreds of birds over there.

But Lisen was more interested in playing around in the lake than chasing after them.

La di da di da...

And let's run some more.

I just absolutely love how clear this lake is by the way.

"Did you say something?"

A Gorgeous Walk Around Lake Farskesjon In Sweden
It is also a very shallow lake. "Hellooooo!!"

A Gorgeous Walk Around Lake Farskesjon In Sweden
Lisen felt a bit brave today, which of course made me nervous! (She made it fine out there though.)

A Gorgeous Walk Around Lake Farskesjon In Sweden
Lisen also felt rather playful (as usual, hehe) - peekaboo!

Enjoying the view. :-)

A Gorgeous Walk Around Lake Farskesjon In Sweden
"Hey, how about that lunch you packed now Alex? I am hungry."

And this is a common "eat scene" in the Lisen and Alex household.

"Hey, I want some tooo! Pleeeeeeaseeeeeeee!"

A Gorgeous Walk Around Lake Farskesjon In Sweden
"That's more like it. Thank you." :-)

A Gorgeous Walk Around Lake Farskesjon In Sweden
The terrain around the lake was mixed, some parts looked like this.

Others more like this.

A Gorgeous Walk Around Lake Farskesjon In Sweden
As well as like this.

A Gorgeous Walk Around Lake Farskesjon In Sweden
And Lisen always found something to do on our walk... Bad doggy! (She was rolling around in something smelly...)

A Gorgeous Walk Around Lake Farskesjon In Sweden
But it was a really nice walk though, I love when it really feels like I am in a forest (sort of).

A Gorgeous Walk Around Lake Farskesjon In Sweden
There were also plenty of colorful trees and rocks around.

A Gorgeous Walk Around Lake Farskesjon In Sweden
As well as a cute little island in the lake.

A Gorgeous Walk Around Lake Farskesjon In Sweden
Over there on that rock was where we had our lunch.

A Gorgeous Walk Around Lake Farskesjon In Sweden
Of course all around the lake there were lots of opportunities to enjoy the view.

A Gorgeous Walk Around Lake Farskesjon In Sweden
Like here. :-)

A Gorgeous Walk Around Lake Farskesjon In Sweden
Hm... That boat looks a bit too wet to me...

A Gorgeous Walk Around Lake Farskesjon In Sweden
After about two and a half hours, including many stops, we finally arrived back where we started.

And it truly was such a lovely and peaceful walk. We actually only saw two dogs and heard one human voice (shouting at the dogs, lol) on our entire walk, and they were on the opposite side of the lake as us. Which was really quite nice. Even more nice is that Lisen is so exhausted right now, hehe. Besides barking at me when she wanted her food earlier, she has just been sleeping since we got back home. Though I do think her body is a bit sore right now, so I will have to take it easy with her in the next few days. But all in all, we certainly had a gorgeous walk around Lake Farskesjon today - one I will definitely try to take more often. :-)

Intense Looks By Lisen
August 16, 2012 8:10 PM

My dog Lisen has a very special and loud way of speaking with her eyes. And when I came into the living room the other day I was met by these very intense and loud speaking looks from her.

Intense Looks By Lisen
...

Intense Looks By Lisen
...

Intense Looks By Lisen
...

Now I have no idea why she had buried her head under the teddy bear's legs like that or why she looked like that, a little sad and pissed off kind of. Hehe. But because I was so surprised to find her looking like that when I walked into the living room, I just could not help but laugh at her - which probably intensified her already intense gloom glances at me even more (Lisen does not like when I laugh at her!). Though whatever Lisen did have on her mind when I walked in, I think it passed pretty quickly when I started to photograph her. She seemed to become in a different mood then anyway.

But it is moments like these when I just love having her in my life even more than usual, because Lisen sure knows exactly how to brighten my day - without even knowing it. And after I had taken some photos of her I walked right over to her and gave her a biiiiig cuddle, which I hope made up for me laughing at her earlier and helped her to feel a bit happier. Though what those intense looks actually meant? Well, I guess only Lisen can answer that question... Hm?

Tearing Up The Garden, A Dog And Her Bone
August 8, 2012 7:25 PM

Tearing Up The Garden, A Dog And Her Bone
My dog Lisen after a busy day in my mum's garden...

Last week my dog Lisen and I were house sitting for my mum a few days. And because I know how much Lisen loves marrow bones, I decided to buy one for her so she could eat it outside in the garden. What I had not counted on though, was that Lisen was about to tear up my mum's garden in search for the perfect hiding spot for the marrow bone. Something which apparently was a lot more fun than actually eating it... Now I know Lisen enjoys to hide things and dig around, she always has. But for some reason the idea that she was in that type of "dig around and protect" mood when I gave her the bone, did not cross my mind. My bad!

OK, so the obvious thing I probably should have done when I discovered that Lisen was digging around in my mum's flower beds was to stop her - instead I got my camera. Bad Alex again! Hehe. But I just could not resist photographing her, because even when Lisen is a naughty dog - she is still the cutest dog ever!

So below are some photos of Lisen last week when she was completely obsessed with hiding and protecting her marrow bone in my mum's garden.

A Dog And Her Bone
At first Lisen was all happy just eating the marrow bone.

Tearing Up The Garden, A Dog And Her Bone
But then when I came back out after having been inside for a little while, this is what I found...

Tearing Up The Garden, A Dog And Her Bone
Mhm...

Tearing Up The Garden, A Dog And Her Bone
Apparently the flower pot idea was not a good one however.

Tearing Up The Garden, A Dog And Her Bone
So then Lisen decided to hide the bone in this flower bed instead.

Tearing Up The Garden, A Dog And Her Bone
But that was not quite right either.

Tearing Up The Garden, A Dog And Her Bone
So Lisen quickly removed the bone from there and had a little pondering moment, hm..?

Tearing Up The Garden, A Dog And Her Bone
Before she came up with this spot, under a bush by the pond.

And when I came by there to take some photos of her, these are the looks and speech she greeted me with:

Tearing Up The Garden, A Dog And Her Bone
You cannot see the bone, right?

Tearing Up The Garden, A Dog And Her Bone
Can you?

Tearing Up The Garden, A Dog And Her Bone
It is my booooone!!!

Tearing Up The Garden, A Dog And Her Bone
Hey! Let us in, I will not bury the bone among any pillows or in any bed - I promiiiiise! Yeah right... Lol!

I did not let Lisen in with that bone, no sir. Because I know she would have gone straight to a bed and buried the dirty bone among the pillows in there, or rolled it up in the covers. Not very fun to lie down in when it is bed time, I know that from experience! Lol! But after some sweet big eye looks out there on the steps, Lisen finally gave up her dream of being allowed to bring the bone inside. Instead she buried it in one of the flower beds outside and was then allowed in. Though she kept a close eye on everyone who went outside in the garden that entire evening. And as soon as Lisen went outside, she ran straight off to check to see that her bone was exactly where she had left it.

Now I did of course repair the flower beds afterwards, and luckily my mum has not said anything to me about finding any broken flowers. Phew! So I am sure Lisen, despite her frantic digging, did not destroy anything. Though I will definitely think twice before giving Lisen a marrow bone in my mum's garden again in the future. A lesson learned there for me indeed. Hehe. ;p

A Fun Filled Play Date With The Ocean
July 10, 2012 3:41 PM

Finally a few days ago I took my dog Lisen for her first swim in the ocean of this year. Yay!!! And boy did she have fun! :p We went to Verkö here in Sweden, which is usually a pretty quiet spot and therefore a great place for Lisen to run around, play in the water and just enjoy being a dog. Of course I also brought my camera to snap some shots of Lisen's fun filled play date with the ocean. Below are some of them.

A Fun Filled Play Date With The Ocean
Lisen did a lot of this at Verkö.

A Fun Filled Play Date With The Ocean
Therefore I had to do this quite a lot of this out there. Hehe.

And up we go go.

Before running around sideways for a while...

Then back into the ocean again.

A Fun Filled Play Date With The Ocean
Where Lisen apparently saw something interesting underwater.

Something very interesting...

Of course in between all this playing around in the ocean, lots of shaking took place. Lol!

Shaking around.

Shaking to the right.

Shaking to the left.

Shaking close up.

Even shaking while thinking.

But finally, Lisen decided to stay still for a few seconds too.

Dog Pose Sweden
Pose.

Now the main reason for this quite late swim premiere, compared with other years, was because Lisen had a stubborn moist eczema (Hot Spot) in the beginning of the summer - again... So I wanted to wait until it was completely gone before I let her soak herself properly in the ocean. Which it is now. Phew!

And even though Lisen definitely enjoyed herself in and around the ocean, I see more and more now by the way she moves that she is not a young pup anymore. Even so, I do still want her to have fun and do all the things I know she loves. I just have to make sure I do not forget that she keeps a different pace now and that I need to look out for her so she does not overdo it in the midst of all the fun. With that said, Lisen and I certainly look forward to many more play dates with the ocean this summer. And maybe, if only we could get some warmer weather and sun here in Sweden, I might actually join Lisen in splashing around in the ocean on one of those occassions too. :p

Sunny Day, Tired Dog - A Great Beginning To The Weekend
June 29, 2012 1:30 PM

It is so great to wake up in the morning to a bright blue sky with a beaming sun, which is what I have had the fortune of doing both yesterday and this morning. Yay! So it seems like the sun has finally found Karlskrona here in Sweden again, I just hope this lovely weather stays over the weekend too.

Now of course when the weather is warm like this I have to plan my walks with my dog Lisen more carefully, because her fur is pretty thick. Therefore she prefers a bit more cool weather. Also the fact that she is 11 now makes me not want to push her too hard on sunny days. So this morning we got up extra early and went for a long forest walk with my sister and her dog Diva, before it got too hot outside.

Sunny Day, Tired Dog - A Great Beginning To The Weekend
Diva (left) keeping an eye on where Lisen is heading.

Sunny Day, Tired Dog - A Great Beginning To The Weekend
So she can make a run for it and get there first. Hehe.

Sunny Day, Tired Dog - A Great Beginning To The Weekend
But Lisen just wanted to carry the water bottle, something Diva had no interest in...

And although Lisen does not roll around in dirty stuff, jump in dirty puddles or run around as much as she used to nowadays, I am sure she enjoyed our forest stroll this morning. A walk that, despite her quite calm pace, sure wiped her out. Because she has been sleeping non stop ever since we got home. Hehe.

Sunny Day, Tired Dog - A Great Beginning To The Weekend
Zzz... Lisen on the balcony in the shade after our walk.

So now I have a tired dog AND a sunny day to enjoy this Friday, which certainly sounds like a great way to start the weekend to me! :p

Pseudopregnant Again
June 10, 2012 8:03 PM

Once again my dog Lisen is pseudopregnant, which means that she thinks she is pregnant and is going to have pups. Now she always becomes pseudopregnant after she has been in heat, so I am used to it. What I wonder though is if female dogs ever become too old to go through this? If they, like women, go through menopause I mean? Or can dogs become pregnant no matter how old they are? Hm...

Anyway, Lisen is in the end phase of her pseudopregnancy now so it should be over soon. But while she is in this last phase she does not want to do anything except prepare for her coming pups. She barely eats, whines a lot, does not want to go on long walks and she digs around at home all the time to make a proper place for her pups to arrive. Therefore this is a common sight at home right now:

Pseudopregnant Again
I think it is time soon Alex, look how great I made the bed for the pups.

Pseudopregnant Again
I hope it is time soon anyway...

Pseudopregnant Again
... because this is waiting game is just exhausting man.

Aww! But although it must be quite tiresome for Lisen to become pseudopregnant after each heat cycle, it is normal. So I am not worried. Having said that, I do indeed look forward to having Lisen back to her old "non-pregant" self again soooon. :-)

Golden Fields, The Treasure Of An Open Mind
May 14, 2012 6:01 PM

Yesterday when I drove home with my dog Lisen after a visit and barbecue at my mum's we passed some absolutely stunning golden fields. So of course I just had to stop and take a little stroll by them with Lisen, and take some photos. :-)

She even decided to take a little stroll through them.

My treasure. :-)

Looking pretty in the fields.

Now because last week was a very busy week for me with more work than usual, I even had to leave Lisen at my mum's for a few days so I could get it all done on time, it was very nice to finally get my head out of blind work mode yesterday and truly enjoy the sights I saw outside. I mean, even though I must have driven passed these fields a few times last week when I was dropping off and picking up Lisen, I really only actually noticed them yesterday. But hey, it is not easy to find treasures with a busy mind I guess. A problem I hopefully will not have this week though. :-)
