Happy evening doggy walk
in Lyckeby, Sweden

Doggy walk in Lyckeby in Sweden
My doggy Lisen (in the photo) and I had a lovely evening walk here in Lyckeby in Sweden today.

Lisen is in heat right now so she always becomes super happy whenever it is time for a walk. The reason being of course that she hopes to find a suitable male doggy for herself outside. Although, unfortunately for her, I never let her say hello to any male doggies when she is in heat. Hehe.

Doggy in heat
Also for some reason when she is in this particular phase of her heat period she gets very obsessed with her leash. Outside she wants to carry it by herself. Inside she walks around with it in her mouth and whines. I am sure she has her reasons, but this is one of her behaviors I have not been able to figure out...

Oh well, below are some more photos from our evening walk in Lyckeby today. :p

This is the path in Ekebacken nature reserve where Lisen and I started our evening walk.

We followed the path until we got to to these stairs.

Which lead us to this area in Lyckeby. Where Lisen always find a lot of smells to analyze.

When Lisen finally got her nose up from the ground again we continued to walk here.

Until we got back to the beginning of our walk. We live in the yellow building there. And the path next to it was the one we started our walk from.

But before we could finish our walk Lisen had to make sure not to miss any important smells. And in the right photo she probably thought I should stop to photograph her and get my behind in the elevator. Lol!

Doggy has a Hot Spot - Ouch!
September 21, 2011 2:04 PM

I took my doggy Lisen to the Vet yesterday because last week I noticed that she had a moist eczema on her cheek. Also known as a Hot Spot. Not sure why it is called that though? But the Vet said that it feels like a burn injury and therefore it really burns on the dog when you touch the Hot Spot. So maybe that is what the "Hot" part refers to? Anyway, I still think it is such an odd name for an eczema... Hehe.

But it is nothing serious. I just have have to put some ointment on it for about 7-10 days and it should be fine. Although it is not the most fun or comfortable thing for Lisen. Not only did the Vet have to shave off a lot of fur on Lisens cheek, both over the Hot Spot and around it. Because this thing spreads quickly. But doggy has to wear socks on her paws to prevent her from itching on it. The Vet recommended socks instead of those awful big collars because the Hot Spot needs to be free and breathe.

Dog has a Hot SpotNo Collar Dog
Which was a relief both for Lisen and me. Because that collar is so clumsy! Or rather, it makes Lisen clumsy. She hates wearing it and bumps into everything with it on. Socks are so much better! And she has been pretty good with the socks as well, not taken them off too many times. :-)

I also asked the Vet to check Lisen for some other stuff, like borrelia for instance. For some reason ticks love her and she has had borrelia once before. Something I really do not want her to get again! But she was completely healthy and borrelia free. Yay!

Doggy Has A Hot Spot
So now we just need to get rid of that Hot Spot on doggy so she can look pretty again. :-)

Bored doggy
September 12, 2011 0:02 AM

Lisen is usually a very happy doggy. But sometimes she looks like she is a million miles away. And I often wonder what she is thinking of on those occasions. Below are some photos of when she "stole" my spot in the sofa. I got up to get something and when I returned, there she was with the biggest "sigh stare" I have ever seen!

Bored doggy
This is how I found Lisen when I returned to sit down in front of my laptop.

Bored doggy
Maybe she is trying to mimic me...

Bored doggy
Where are you Lisen?

Bored doggy
Not even a bone was as intriguing as your thoughts that day.

Lisen is not like this often at all, but I guess she has her day dream moments too. Maybe she is dreaming of a land far, far away. The ultimate doggy land where she is the Queen of everything and no one is allowed to sit in front of a laptop! :p

Dogs play
August 21, 2011 1:46 PM

I love to watch dogs play! And even though my doggy Lisen is 10 years old today she still loves to play! Both with dogs and people. One of Lisens best play mates is her 6 year old daughter Diva. Those two know each other inside out and know exactly which buttons to push to get the other one going.

Although Lisen prefer to play a bit more calmly nowadays she still has some pizzazz in her. So when Lisen and Diva met the other day they had a fun play session in my mums garden. And luckily I was outside with my camera so I managed to capture a few photos of them in action . :p

Lisen: "Hey Diva, you gotta take it a bit easy with your old mama. I'm not as limber as I used to be babe.". Diva: "Ahhh! Nag, nag, nag! I knoooow! I'll just dig here a bit instead then.".

Dogs play
Lisen: "Kids...". Diva: "Hahaaa!!!".

Dogs play
Lisen: "Hm...". Diva: "Anyone else wanna play then!?".

Dogs play
Lisen still pondering. Diva: "I know you want to mama.".

Dogs play
Lisen: "Oook Diva. Follow me!". Diva: "Yaaay!".

Mega dog bone obsession
August 14, 2011 4:35 PM

My sister gave Lisen a mega bone this Thursday and doggy has been obsessed with it ever since. She gnawed on it non-stop for hours the first day. I even had to drag her out for her late night walk, a super quick walk because Lisen wanted to get back home to her precious bone. And because Lisen loves to hide things, especially bones, when she finally decided to take a break. Well first she then had to find a place to hide the bone before she could relax. Not the easiest thing either because of Lisens hiding procedure.

A procedure that starts with her walking around the entire apartment and balcony to search for appropriate hiding spots. She also test hides whatever she is about to hide in a few different places before she finally decides on a permanent hiding spot. And for some reason she loves to hide her yucky bones under my pillows... Not the nicest surprise to find when I go to bed at night. But I just laugh, I mean how can I possibly get mad at this doggy!? :p

Some photos of Lisen and her mega bone:

Obsession!

Mission: Hide bone.

Test hide 1 completed.

Hey! Don't follow me while I'm scouting for hiding places!

Ok, I won't tell where she finally hid the bone. :-)

Puppy love
July 31, 2011 11:48 PM

While I was browsing through photos on my computer today I happened to stumble across my all time favourite Lisen photo. It's of Lisen saying goodbye to one of her puppies. So of course I had to post it! And oh how it brought back memories!

Lisen had her 12! puppies in the summer of 2005. And before each pup moved to his or her new family my sister captured some last one on one moments between mum and pup on camera. This photo is of one of those moments.

Now I had moved from home back then so I wasn't around to say goodbye to all puppies. Although we did visit them in their new homes later of course. But my sister said that she always felt like Lisen knew when each pup was going to leave home. Because Lisen was always a bit extra attentive with them during those last one on one moments. Which is what I think this photo has captured.

Lisen was an amazing mum by the way! :-) I have written all about when she had her puppies in my post My Lovely Dogs. I have also posted lots of photos of them on Lisens blog Lisen.eu And I do love to visit those pages sometimes. Because they help to remind me of all those wonderful puppy moments! Ahh! :p

Fallen tree
July 14, 2011 7:44 PM

Today I decided to take Lisen to the forest. However, we didn't get very far...

Because of this fallen tree... I actually got out of the car to try and pull it aside. But nope, I couldn't even pull it an inch! Lol! Nothing else to do but reverse the car about 100 metres to the beginning of the forest road and start our walk from there instead. Lisen looked a bit confused when I had to reverse all the way back.

So when we got to the fallen tree she decided to conduct a complete inspection of it.

Hm..

I also decided to do a little inspection of the fallen tree.

Meaning a few close ups with my camera. Hehe.

But despite the tree roadblock and constant pouring rain we did indeed have a fun visit to the forest today. :p

Pigs ear and camels
July 1, 2011 1:03 PM

Some random moments caught on camera.

It's miiiiiiiiine, she says! Lol! Lisens with her favourite treat in her mouth - pigs ear.

Which I bought for her at the Leaf market.

And on my walk with Lisen a few days ago we saw these camels, not exactly a common sight here in Lyckeby, Sweden. Lol! Of course they belonged to the visiting circus here, but still, looked pretty funny I thought. :p

Happy weekend everyone!

Splash baby! Fetch that stick!
June 5, 2011 5:22 PM

Summer means swimming in the ocean! Yay! Although I'm not as brave as Lisen, lol! I haven't jumped in yet. But Lisen has. She had her first swim of the year in the ocean (Östersjön - the Baltic Sea) at Verkö, Sweden today. And how she loved it!

This is definitely one of her absolute favorite activities in the world! So it's always a pleasure for me to play with her and see how happy she gets on these occasions. Love it all the way!
