Yesterday we had to say goodbye to my best friend and most beloved family member, Lisen. It was unexpected, but at the same time not. Even so, there are no words that can describe how much this wonderful dog has meant (means) to me, but I know in my heart that it was time for her to move on and that we made the right decision.
Two weeks ago Lisen got very sick, I will not go in to the specifics here, but we decided to give medicine a try because there was some hope that she could recover - there was no conclusive diagnosis. And it seemed like she was on the right path, until yesterday afternoon. My sister and I got a call from my mum who in panic said that Lisen had collapsed and could not get up! Obviously we rushed over there immediately. And when we got to the house and saw Lisen on the floor, we knew. So off to the vet we went with her.
Lisen had given it all she had in her but she simply could not fight whatever it was any more.
The day I had dreaded ever since we brought our cute, furry, eight week old energy ball Lisen home had arrived.
But it became a calm, respectful and peaceful ending. Lisen knew it was time, I could tell by by her behaviour. She did not fight us, she was calm. And before it was time I whispered in her ear that it was OK to let go, which she did quite quickly - with a little help. So now she is free, running around with ease and playing with all the other wonderful souls who have moved on out there.
Now before I end this very emotional (for me) blog post I strongly feel I want to write a few words directed to my beloved friend Lisen, even though I know they probably do not have/read blogs where she is at right now (but who know's? ;-). Anyway, here it goes;
To Lisen : "I am deeply grateful for all the years I had the privilege to have you by my side, almost 13 (three weeks away). I have never met a more loving, loyal, supportive, entertaining, stubborn, mischievous, happy, extremely wise and food crazy dog, nor will I never meet one again I am sure - until we reunite of course. ;-)
I feel extremely happy and fortunate that it was precisely you and I who met on this journey of life. Because what would I had done without you in certain situations ..? (You know which ones I am talking about.) Both happy and sad. And if ever there was anyone I could count on through thick and it was you, always YOU. We sure have our secrets you and I my friend. ;-) So again, thank you from the bottom of my heart, my beloved pup, for the time we had together - "My Little Lis " .
I will always love you more than words could ever express. You will forever be in my memories, in my heart and a part of my soul. My hope is that the rest of your family and I (the same of course) made your time here on Earth at least as happy as you did ours, because that would sure be a comfort for me. Though I will miss you like crazy you do not have to worry about me, I will be fine.
So you walk away now baby and enjoy your freedom. I will see you soon." ♥ ♥ ♥
And so another year has passed... I am not quite sure what to think about that. But what I do know is that I am grateful for all the lessons this year has taught me and for all the lessons I have not yet been able to make sense of from this year. Because, although I have found it difficult to see clearly from time to time in 2013, I do know for a fact that whatever has happened in my life this year was exactly what what was supposed to happen and that it happened exactly when it was supposed to happen (I hope you followed me there, hehe.).
Now the reason I am so sure of this is because of my unshakeable faith in the Universe and its ability to guide me to where I need to go. Because, as far as I am concerned, some of the most important responsibilities I have in this world are to be present, awake and all ears - not always the easiest things though... Therefore my main goals for next year are to be more present, attentive and to listen to life without judgment. A bit unorthodox new year's resolutions perhaps, but that is where I am at in my life right know. Trying to make sense out of events I find hard to see any sense in.
Anyway. Of course the year of 2013 have been filled with many happy, wonderful and amazing moments I am very grateful for as well. Below are some of those moments :p
To end this post, and this year, I sincerely want to say: "Thank You 2013!". And Thank You to all of you beautiful souls out there who visit, comment, email me and/or show your support to this blog in any way. I whole heartedly appreciate every single one of you!
Finally, I wish you all a happy, peaceful and prosperous 2014! Cheeeers And Happy New Year Ya'll!! :p
All I can say about the year 2012 is that I am grateful for the lessons it has taught me, and I look forward to see what 2013 has to offer. I feel like it will be a year of change, no idea why? It is just a notion I have. Either way - whatever happens, I want to wish each and every soul on this planet a beautiful, joyful and prosperous 2013!
I also want to thank Everyone for visiting, commenting and keeping in touch with me, it means the world to me. I am so grateful for this blog in more ways than I can explain, so again - Thank You All for being a part of my 2012! And (of course) Happy New Year Beautiful People!!! ♥ ♥ ♥ :-)
So lately this blog has received some award nominations and tags from other lovely fellow bloggers. Recently I also realized that it has been quite a while since I participated in a Blog Hop or hosted a Blog Hop here on my blog, which is why I thought I would create this Thank You And Weekend Blog Hop Post.
♥ Thank You! ♥
Now the idea with this post is to thank the lovely bloggers who have chosen to nominate or tag my blog, as well as to open a No Rules Weekend Blog Hop where all bloggers are welcome to add their blog URL - no strings attached. In other words, this is a post all about blogging and blogs. :p
But before I go into further details of how my No Rules Blog Hop will work, (which is very simple) I first want to give a very Special Thank You to the wonderful bloggers who have chosen to nominate or tag my blog in their blog posts.
Now I sincerely hope I have not forgotten anyone, but if I have please let me know so I can include you in the Thank You List above. :-)
Moving on to the the No Rules Weekend Blog Hop. Which I am having in this post instead of nominating or tagging fellow bloggers, which is usually a part of the rules for accepting an award or continue on tagging. So I am not completely following the rules on that one, hehe. Actually I am probably not following the rules there at all... Hm. But I thought that instead of nominating or tagging a few bloggers, I would let everyone who wants to add their blog URL to my Blog Hop do so freely. So hopefully I will be forgiven for not following the rules...
Anyway, in case anyone is unfamiliar with what a Blog Hop is? Here is a short explanation:
A Blog Hop is basically a list where bloggers can add their blog's URL. The main purpose of a Blog Hop is for all bloggers on that list to visit each others blogs, follow, comment, share blog posts in social networks and so on. In other words, a Blog Hop is a way to find blogs as well as to gain visitors, followers and comments to your own blog.
Because I have chosen to have a No Rules Blog Hop, I do not require you to do anything before or after you have added your blog URL here. Like follow this blog, comment or share this post. Though I am of course very grateful if anyone chooses to do so. And should that be the case, I always return follows when it comes to Blog Hops - just leave a comment below if you are a new follower so I can return the favor. I also want to say that over the years I have found that the more active I am in a Blog Hop - the more activity I see on my own blog (just a little tip).
Finally, to add your blog to this Blog Hop simply click on the Add your link button below and fill out the three fields that pop up:
URL: URL to your blog Name: Title of your blog Email: Your email address
then simply click Submit link and you are done.
And like I said, this is a No Rules Blog Hop where all bloggers are welcome to join. So Happy Blog Hopping, and Weekend of course! :p
It was two years ago today since I published my first post here on ropcorn.com, in other words - today is this blog's second blogoversary. Yay!!! Now I had big plans for this blog when I started it (I still do). Some goals have been achieved, while others are still in the process of being achieved. And new goals have been set. But the most important thing is that I STILL LOVE BLOGGING! :-)
A feeling I think this lovely Bleeding Heart conveys quite accurately. :-)
And what I love about blogging is that I have the freedom and opportunity to express my creativity through my blog posts. Whether it be via photography, writing or simply sharing my everyday life experiences. I also really feel like this blog helps me to follow through on, and bring to life, many of the thoughts and ideas I randomly have. I mean, I can be anywhere and suddenly get an idea on a post I want to do or start to think of things I want to write about. Though I must say that this mostly happen in the shower. Hehe. But the point is that I actually do follow through on a lot of those ideas, instead of just letting them go, because I have a blog where I can share them. And when I manage to bring one of those inspirational moments to life in a good way, I actually feel pretty proud of myself. :-)
But not only do I love the creative part of blogging, I also absolutely adore reading comments and receiving feedback from all the wonderful people that drop by here. Which is why this celebratory post would not be complete without a proper Thank You and a heartfelt bow to to all of you marvelous individuals who visit, follow, comment and/or send me feedback through various sources. I truly value every single second each and every one of you spend on this blog, because it is all that beautiful energy that continue to keep this blog alive. Not to mention the huge positive impact it has on me personally.
Needless to say, I am very grateful that I made the decision to start blogging two years ago. And even though I have spent, and still spend, countless hours on managing, creating posts and networking. It continues to be so undoubtedly worth it!!! :p
One year ago today I published my first post on this blog, yay! And yikes how quickly time flies by! But I'm so glad I decided to start this blog, and even more glad that I still love working on it. Because I was a bit afraid I'd lose interest in it eventually. However that is absolutely not the case! I'm still constantly thinking of what I can post about, what new pages would be fun to add and how I can improve this blog. I have also realized that I will never finish this blog, it's under constant construction. Lol! So my first post --> "Still under construction, but getting there" is kind of as much current today as it was one year ago.
Now there are so many reasons why I continue to blog, but the most important reason is that this is indeed the perfect platform for me to utilize my creativity. Even when a post take many hours to complete, those hours fly by because I enjoy it so much! A truly wonderful feeling!
And although I write this blog because I want to share my life, Sweden and lovely Lisen with the world, I also write it very much for myself. I actually think is fun to read my posts sometimes. Hehe. Because it gives me a well needed perspective of my life, a bit of distance I suppose. As well as a reminder of events, moments and feelings I might have forgotten if I hadn't written them down. However I would be lying if I said comments, follows and visitor counts doesn't matter to me, YOU DO! And I'm truly grateful for every single one!
On a more personal life update note. It's now July, the big vacation month in Sweden. I guess I'm on vacation? I say that because work has been very slow lately so I'm not sure what to expect... Anyway, the weather has been so so, kind of humid and cloudy all weekend. Not so humid today though, but cloudy. Lisen is very energetic these days, lol! Almost like a pup again for some reason? But I love it! It's great to see her happy and healthy. I have some fun plans ahead, which I of course will write about here, but I don't want to jinx anything by writing about it before it happens though, hehe. Ops, does that make me superstitious. Hm? Oh well. All in all life is aaall good right now and I would describe this past year as a calm and enlightened one for me, on many levels. :-)
The last few weeks I have been given some awards by other bloggers. I have also had the honor of being featured over at The Littlest Crafter in a wonderful Follower Fridays post. I can't tell you enough how truly grateful I am to have been picked among other amazing bloggers for this. Thank You so much!!!
I also want to take this opportunity, yet again - because it does mean the world to me, to Thank everyone who ever visit, comment, follow and/or e-mail me. I am truly appreciative and grateful for your time and thoughts. Thank You so much! ♥ ♥ ♥
1. Thank the person who gave you the award.
2. Write seven things about yourself.
3. Pass on to seven other bloggers.
4. Tell the seven awardees of their award!
Versatile Blogger Award
1. Thank and link back to the blogger that awarded you the badge.
2. Share 7 things about you.
3. Award 5 or 15 other bloggers.
4. Contact these bloggers to let them know about the award.
So I have chosen to combine these three. Meaning, I will share 7 things about myself and then pass on the awards 7x3. In total I will share links here to 21 awesome bloggers. I do hope you will check them out. :-)
But first - 7 things about myself
1. I have quite a few grey hairs which I frantically dye.
2. I almost never watch TV. The TV-shows I do watch, I usually watch on my computer.
3. I rarely listen to music either. If I do, it's mostly in my car.
4. When I sleep alone I must have a light on. But I don't consider myself afraid of the dark though...hm?
5. I wish I could enjoy to eat olives, because they do look so tasty! But I just can't seem to like them.
6. I have gained 4 kilos (9 pounds) in the last year. Yikes!
7. I'm nearsighted on my left eye and farsighted on my right eye. Which was very helpful to me when I was a child. Because whenever I was unsure of which was left and right, I just had to close one eye. Blurry sight = Left and Clear sight = Right.
Now I'm not sure of the origin of these awards, but I like to give without any strings attached. So if any awardee here choose not to do a post, that's fine with me. No obligations. Although it is indeed a fun and great way to share blogs you like with others. :p
Left pic: Lisen around 8-10 weeks. Right pic: Lisen today, 10 years old.
Today Lisen turned 10 years old!!! I can't believe she's "that old", hehe. Mainly because she still acts like a 2 year old most of the time, a bit slower though. But, 10 she is. And we all spoiled her today with a lot of goodies and fun activities so I'm pretty sure she had a great birthday.
Here are some pics from her B-day.
We started off this morning with a fun filled visit to the forest with Diva and my sister.
Then we stopped at my mums for some birthday lunch.
When we got home Lisen got some more presents from me.
And now she's sound asleep with one of her birthdays gifts to keep her company. :p
I definitely love this dog! And I'm so grateful to have her in my life. Thank you Lisen, and may we have many more years together. :-)
I had to get up super duper early today, about 5:30 AM, to drive my sister to the hospital. She was due for surgery to remove her gall bladder early this morning. Everything went well and she is feeling as good as one can directly after a surgery like that. Which was a relif for me to hear.
On my way home from the hospital these were my surroundings.
And I could really feel the beauty and calmness around me, like a big hug from Mother Nature. Which was definitely much needed today.
I love fall! And mostly because of what you see in the pic above. Like I have said before, "Beauty is everywhere, you just have to open your eyes!". And I mean it! I truly love and appreciate all these wonderful natural surroundings I get to enjoy and be part of on a daily basis.
Actually, for me, the best way to keep things that are going on in my life in perspective, is to pay attention to who really has all the power in this world. I mean come on, I'm about as powerful and big as an ant is to us, in comparison to nature and all her natural forces. Something I am reminded of on days like these, in the forest. When I see what our nature can accomplish!
And I'm very thankful I have Lisen, because I'm not sure how often I would get my butt into the forest and have my little realization moments without her!? In fact, I would probably not have taken this pic if I hadn't had a doggie who needed to run around in the forest yesterday.
Hm...I guess I'm feeling pretty thankful today, haha! Might as well take this opportunity to thank all of you who have joined my official Facebook page then :-) I truly appreciate you all!!!
I have now had my Iphone a few days and feel like I have an opinion on how it works for me. Short story - It is the best phone I have ever had!
What makes it so great for me is that everything works quick and all functions are easy to understand and operate. Sure you have to download a few programs to your computer and transfer them onto your Iphone before you can get started, but once that is done everything works smoothly.
Regarding the signal issue, I do notice that I sometimes have low reception depending on how I hold the phone. Even though it does not cause any major problems, with an expensive phone like this I want everything to work tip top. Thanks to a tip from my friend at One Million Connections, I found out that you can get a free rubber ring (protection thingy) if you go to Apples website at apple.com/iphone/case-program/and follow instructions. This supposedly helps with the signal issue and protects your Iphone if you drop it. Of course I have ordered one, however - delivery time 1-2 weeks...
Another great thing about this phone is the HD quality, something I really notice when I surf and take pictures. Everything is very sharp and easy on the eye. To demonstrate the quality of picture and sound I have here a little video from our visit to the forest today. This was filmed with my Iphone 4 (not sure if it shows in HD quality on this small screen though...). Enjoy!
To sum it all up, I'm glad I bought this phone and highly recommend it! This is my non sponsored opinion. And by the way, if you want me to review something on my blog I'm sure up for it! Just send me your product :-) To contact me CLICK HERE!
I finally have a dog grid in my car! Hallelujah! Thank you to my mums partner for finding one, and for half the price I originally paid for the first one - that didn’t fit and caused me five months of irritation… This one was ordered and delivered within a week! Such a relief!
I also replaced my old, worn windshield wipers with the new ones I bought a few days ago. Soon it’s time for tire change and yearly check up. Gosh, all this car maintenance is sooo boring! Wish it could just handle it self…blah!
Now I’m going to force Lisen to pose for me in the car, behind “the bars”, so I can post a pic as well, hehe.
She was a bit surprised at first, but then she gladly posed for the camera :-)
And a special thank you goes to... August 18, 2010 20:49
Monica and her blog moni533.blogspot.com - for picking me as the winner of her contest “Guess my age”. My prize arrived today, a production schedule from this years Teen Choice Awards, which Monica worked at.
Who would have thought that one of those copies would find its way aaall the way from, “my former home during three month’s - California, USA, to my apartment here in Karlskrona, Sweden? Not me, haha! But there you go, you never know where things might end up…
So I live in an apartment building with 16 apartments and where the average age is around 60-80 years old. I am by far the youngest person in the building... Right outside my windows is a several hundred years old nature reserve filled with grand oak-trees and animals. Sounds nice right? Well many of my friends and family tease me about this and think I should move someplace where there is more "action". Hm…not me though, I love it here!
I love my apartment, I love my neighbours and I love the nature and calmness that comes with it. Now of course, I don't plan to stay here forever, haha. But the next time I move, it will be to a big stone house :-)
Left: View from my window.
Right: This is how it looks up the road.
Left: There are a lot of lurking paths up there. Right: Lisen and I bumped into this very cocky cat today. It would not budge and I had to take a big detour around it with a struggling, half choking, hanging in the leash Lisen. And once we finally passed the cat, they just wanted to stare at each other...
It has been a rainy and slow day today, a day to appreciate the simple things in life. I think it is important to be thankful for what you have in life, especially for everyday things. Things we take for granted, like water. I mean without such a common, natural and simple resource, life becomes a battle for survival.
I took this pic on my balcony today.
For me, beauty is everywhere. You just have to open your eyes.
